Impact of Federal Government Shutdown on SNAP in Washington State and How This Affects Customers
Due to loss of federal funds, Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is required to make changes to the food assistance benefits programs. Because DSHS did not have federal funding as of November 1, SNAP clients did not receive November food benefits. Visit DSHS Federal Shutdown website for current updates regarding SNAP.
Below are details on how our customers who use these programs will be affected until regular benefits resume:
After November 1, 2025, SNAP customers with a remaining EBT balance can continue using their EBT card with qualifying purchases.
After November 1, 2025, SNAP customers with remaining balance can continue to take advantage of SNAP Produce Match on qualifying purchases.
After November 1, 2025, SNAP customers with zero remaining SNAP balance will no longer be eligible to receive the Produce Match. This will continue until federal SNAP benefits resume.
This situation remains fluid, and we will communicate updates as they are available. We greatly appreciate your patience during this critical time for our most vulnerable community members.
